The future of storytelling now fits in the palm of your hand.
With the launch of Play Shorts, the new vertical video platform within the Play app, Play Media is taking an important step towards a new generation of viewers. Dedsit is proud to be part of that journey, as the very first flemish microdramas premiere today: The Assistant Below Me and Double Booked.
A New Format for a New Viewing Generation
The way audiences consume content is changing rapidly. Around the world, microdramas have become one of the fastest-growing entertainment formats, attracting hundreds of millions of viewers through short, highly addictive episodes designed specifically for mobile viewing.
Built around vertical storytelling, fast-paced narratives and cliffhangers that keep audiences coming back for more, microdramas are perfectly aligned with modern viewing habits: quick, accessible and always within reach.
With Play Shorts, Play Media is introducing this global phenomenon to Flanders for the very first time, creating a dedicated home for premium short-form storytelling designed for smartphone audiences.
The First Two Stories Have Arrived
To mark the launch, Dedsit has produced two original Flemish microdrama series.
The Assistant Below Me
A story where ambition, power and temptation collide. What begins as a professional relationship gradually evolves into a dangerous game of secrets, manipulation and hidden motives. Each episode reveals a new twist, drawing viewers deeper into the story.
Double Booked
A romantic comedy filled with chaos, misunderstandings and unexpected connections. When an administrative mistake causes two completely different lives to become intertwined, the result is a light-hearted yet emotionally engaging story packed with surprises.
Both series were developed specifically for vertical viewing and demonstrate that compelling storytelling does not depend on long runtimes. Sometimes, ninety seconds is all it takes to captivate an audience.
Breaking New Ground
For Dedsit, this project represents far more than the launch of two new series. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in storytelling, exploring innovative narrative formats, production methods and audience experiences.
When Dedsit and Play announced earlier this year that they would collaborate on the first Flemish microdramas, the ambition was clear: to bring a globally successful format to a local audience and help shape the future of digital entertainment in Flanders.
Just the Beginning
The launch of The Assistant Below Me and Double Booked is only the first step in a much larger journey. Throughout 2026, Dedsit will develop and deliver a total of twenty original Flemish microdrama series for Play Shorts, creating a continuous pipeline of new stories designed specifically for mobile audiences. Twenty new worlds.Twenty new stories.Twenty new opportunities to discover how storytelling is evolving in a mobile-first era. Because the next generation of drama is not coming to your living room first.
It is already in your pocket.
